Walgreens is not happy about Express Scripts leaving their network.

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Walgreens wanted to renew their contract and even agreed to keep prices the same instead of raising them. But they let their contract with Walgreens expire inconveniencing thousands of customers. If you are one of their  customers you can see the press release about  Walgreens and Express Scripts. They are trying to get your coverage provider to come back to Walgreens.

By taking it out of the Walgreens network it is hurting the military and veterans who serve our country.  The military and vets are covered by Tri-care which is under the Express Scripts program. They are being affected because Walgreens agreed to always beat the lowest average price found on their drugs so that the military/veterans are always getting the best deal. But because Express Scripts offers a 90 day mail order prescription they didn’t want to compete with Walgreens same 90 day prescription that you can pick up at their store. The affected military families are the ones who are paying the price.

Because of all the difficulties Walgreens is trying to make it easy as possible on it’s customers. It has unveiled a Prescription Savings Club at Walgreens to help save you money if you choose to stay with Walgreens. This will give you a discount to join the program and help you save on your prescriptions. Walgreens wants to partner with Express Scripts again. They didn’t want to lose this customer and did everything they could to keep them. Even offering to help with Tricare and not help with their other commercial business so that they could keep the contract. Express Scripts said, no thanks.

Walgreens wants you to know they are on your side. They are here for you and will do all they can to make this transition easier. To keep updated on what changes are occurring with this make sure you follow Walgreens on Twitter and Walgreens on Facebook. They will monitor and keep you up to date with any changes that might come about. Walgreens cares for it’s military and veteran families and wants to help. If you are a military or veteran family and this is affecting you feel free to contact your local media to get them involved so that maybe Express Scripts will hear your pleas.
