How to make your own shower cleaner recipe!
Okay I know many people think I’m weird. As I live this life I try to get as many chemicals as possible out of my house. It’s just what I do. I find the old cleaning recipes better for the environment and great to use. They’re also easy on the pocketbook too. I found this recipe on Pinterest somewhere and wrote it down months ago. Isn’t it great the amount of procrastination one can do when it relates to cleaning. I finally cleaned my nasty tub and it worked fabulous. What? My tub is always sparkling and shiny. My nose is growing. It’s nasty and gross. Not anymore!
At this point my house is 28 years old and so is the tub. The only thing that was working for me when I cleaned the tub was the magic eraser. This homemade tub cleaner worked fabulously! It cleaned my tub without hardly any scrubbing. You have to try this. Check out my pics and the recipe.
Here’s my amazing shower cleaner recipe
- dawn blue dishwashing detergent
- vinegar
- Put 2 cups of vinegar into the microwave and heat for 2 minutes. Add to spray bottle with a cup of blue dawn. Voila! Perfect bathroom cleaner. Spray on tub. Wait 20 minutes use scrubber and scrub off or wipe away. Beautiful and clean!

I love how easy that is to make and it sounds wonderful! I like homemade things like this better than store bought ones.

I plan to buy dawn the next trip. It seem to work on a lot of things. LIke you, I live in a very old house with a very old tub. It’s pink and we used that paint stuff to paint over it. Within the last year or two that has started to peal. I think mostly because we have hard well water and I have to use nasty chemicals to remove the stains. I have to be careful about what I can use or I will get sick and full of hives. The plain vinegar, baking soda and water method didn’t work for me.

Sounds great, thanks for this i will have to try this,I much prefer if i can keep chemicals out of the house.
TerriAnn @ Cookies & Clogs
Man, vinegar can do everything! We always use a chemical cleaner with bleach and, even with scrubbing, doesn’t get everything clean. I’ll have to try this!
Felicia
Thank you for this! OUr shower could use a little TLC.
Liz Mays
It worked unbelievably well! I’m going to try that technique for sure. What I’m currently using works super well, but the fumes are just horrendous so I know it can’t be good for me.
Debbie Denny
I love Dawn and vinegar for a lot of things. Good recipe.

I have been loving homemade cleaners lately, Truth be told they actually work 10x better than what you buy at the store anyways.

How much blue dawn do you to 2 cups of vinegar?
Ruthie
Never mind I just reread and saw 1 cup.

We love Dawn. I’ve always heard great things about using Vinegar to clean with. It also makes your mirrors sparkly clean with no streaks.
Melinda@LookWhatMomFound...andDadtoo
I tried this recipe and it didn’t work that well for me. I have to use it in combination with chemical cleanre
Dina

I never thought to make my own shower cleaner! I love easy and natural this recipe is!
Migdalia - @MsLatina
I don’t think you are weird at all! I’ve recently developed hives. I’m pretty sure it’s something in my home. I am allergic to dust and have super sensitive skin so I’m right there with you trying to find better, healthier ways to keep our home clean. Vinegar is always a go too (and baking soda!). I live by it. Will give your recipe a shot to see how it goes this weekend. Thanks for sharing!

Growing up we never had any chemicals in the house, mom used only natural cleaners. Need to get back to that.

I need to try this. Our shower is gross and I can’t seem to get it sparkling clean!

I’m sure going to try it. We’ve got well water it’s hard to make it look clean, even when it’s sparkling clean.
