I was given 2 tickets to screen Maleficent to facillitate the writing of this review.
My girl and I were so stoked to see Maleficent. I barely remember Sleeping Beauty. I mean I think it came out when I was 2. LOL But my girl had watched every trailer on youtube and was psyched to go see it. So go see it we did. We stopped by to get our drink and popcorn on…have you seen those prices? Wow! Then we carried on to the theater, made ourselves comfortable, put our 3d glasses on and settled in. We went on quite the journey with baby Aurora and Maleficent. It was a sweet and touching journey that shows us there are two sides to a person. You may not know the reason someone is the way they are but you can guarentee that something happened to make them that way.
It also spoke to the fact that even though we may not be biolically related that we can love others outside our family as much or more than our actual family. Having an adopted daughter this really spoke to her. She did have quite an emotional ride going home that night. True Love’s Kiss is what awakens Sleeping Beauty. I’ll leave it up to you to see if you can figure out who gave true love’s kiss to Aurora.
Sweet, magical and sometimes fiery and mean this movie crosses the gamut of emotions. This movie had violence. It had romance and it had comedy. For the preschool set I’m not sure if I’d be able to recommend this movie. AS it is kind of dark. But my 8 year old had no trouble watching it. If we owned it I do believe that she would watch it over and over again. Thanks Maleficent for a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.
