It’s so funny to me how my husband rarely gets involved with my blog. As long as it makes him money he’s happy. However, the other day he came home and said I have a blog post for you. He is a technician at our local Acura dealer and has been there for over 20 years. He wants me to show you how to clean your battery acid off your battery. Well he took pictures and everything so I have to post it, right?
So, here’s everything you never wanted to know about cleaning the battery acid off your battery.
Whoa! That’s some serious battery acid there.
Step 1: boil 2 cups of water.
Step 2: Pour into large cup that you can carry to your car.
Step 3: Carefully and slowly pour it over your battery. Keep the water running over the top of the batter and try to use as little water as you can when you do this. The hot boiling water will clean it right off. No need for coke, baking soda or a brush. The hot water should take it all off. If the corrosion is bad enough you may have to use a screwdriver to pry the top layer off before you use the hot water. Apply a thick wheel bearing grease to keep the air away from your battery.
And the after picture.
Ta da! All cleaned up.
I am not a technician on cars nor do I play one on tv. I bear no responsibility if your battery messes up after this post. If you followed the directions that should not happen. 🙂
